The Downtown State College Improvement District is once again offering community members a chance to show their “Love for Local” and get free gift cards in the process.
Launching on Feb. 10, the campaign encourages people to shop locally in Downtown State College and in return receive a Downtown Gift Card valid at more than 100 locations when they reach certain spending thresholds.
When customers spend $100 or more downtown at one or more businesses in the downtown district, they can receive a Downtown Gift Card of $25. If they spend $250 or more at one or more merchants, they will receive a Downtown Gift Card worth $60.
To receive the gift card, customers must bring eligible receipts (dated no earlier than Feb. 10, 2025) to the DSCID office, 127 S. Fraser St., between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Customers also will have the option of donating their gift cards to Centre Safe.
“This campaign benefits both our downtown businesses and the local community, supporting our economy while strengthening connections among residents and merchants,” DSCID Executive Director Lee Anne Jeffries said.
One redemption per customer per day is permitted.
Qualifying purchases include individual business gift cards, but not the purchase of a Downtown State College Gift Card. Receipts for gift cards purchased from national retailers also will not qualify, since they can be redeemed online or at locations outside of the district.
The stock of free Downtown State College gift cards for redemption is limited and the offer will be available while supplies last.
